A handy utility for removing bloatware from PCs

BRU is a free utility tool for PC by an independent developer who goes by the name arcadesdude. This open-source program was created to help users remove any pre-installed factory software from their computers. It has been tested to work seamlessly on devices that run on Windows 7 up to 10.

Just like BCUninstaller or O&O AppBuster, BRU makes it easy for anyone to remove factory-installed bloatware on their newly purchased Windows PCs. This portable tool can also delete Windows 10 UWP apps, provisioned programs, and even those that were installed directly from the Windows Store.

Bloatware is a pain in the tushie. They are programs that nobody asked for, yet somehow always find their way into newly-purchased PCs in an attempt by manufacturers to add value or push out software from partners. Some of them can be useful, but those times are few and far in between. Here then comes BRU, a handy removal utility that can uninstall all unwanted apps in one go.

This app aptly stands for Bloatware Removal Utility, and with it, you'll be able to delete any pre-installed software and improve and clean up your first out-of-the-box experience. It's a portable tool, so you can start using it right away by opening its .bat file with admin rights to bring up the GUI. It features a convenient "Toggle Suggested Bloatware" to help identify and remove offenders easier.

The great thing about this utility is that it's not limited to just bloatware as it can also handle the removal of UWP apps on Windows 10, OS-specific provisioned, and ones coming from the Windows Store. Now, if you're already on the Windows 11 operating system, this tool won't work just yet. The developer is still in the process of making it compatible with Microsoft's latest and greatest.

At this point, bloatware is just something that you have to deal with whenever you purchase a new PC for yourself. However, that doesn't mean removing them has to be a hassle, with tools like BRU to help you deal with them. It's portable, easy to use, and can delete multiple apps at once.
